A Year of Triumphs and New Beginnings

It’s been quite a journey since my last update in March, when Jordan was still embracing the tail end of winter on the slopes. He got over 30 days on the mountain this past season!!

Today, as I write this, I am filled with overwhelming pride and joy seeing how far he has come in just a few short months.

Jordan recently celebrated his one-year anniversary of being cancer-free on May 15th. And, coincidentally, on this the very day, he had the opportunity to play Amputee Soccer during halftime at a Rapids professional game for the amputee team’s debut. Jordan he made his mark by scoring the first goal of the match (proud Mom and Dad moment). As I reflect on this moment, it was a moment filled with triumph and significance, a testament to his resilience and determination.

But that was just the beginning. Jordan has since become an integral part of the Rapids Unified team, where he not only plays alongside his mentally challenged teammates but also serves as a role model and source of inspiration. The support from the Rapids organization has been nothing short of amazing. They even culminated an episode dedicated to Jordan’s story on their Apple TV series. It seems my son has become a bit of a local celebrity, and rightly so.

Academically, Jordan has continued to excel. He completed his sophomore year of high school strong and was invited to apply for the National Honor Society. His curriculum includes biology, anatomy and bio mechanics as he desires to be a prosthetist. This summer, he is interning with his prosthetist for hands on experience. Thanks Neuf!!

Back to soccer, his standout performance during that halftime game caught the attention of the Men’s USA Amputee Soccer team. Now, he finds himself in Long Island, giving his all at tryouts for a chance to represent his country at the Gold Cup in Honduras this September. At just shy of sixteen, he’s the youngest player in contention—a testament to his skill and determination. His Dad is with him supporting him in Long Island, while this group of athletes have taken him in. We will know if he made the team within the next few days.

Meanwhile, Sami and I got out on a little girls camping adventure, enjoying all of the things CO has to offer!

As a mother, I find myself constantly inspired by Jordan’s unwavering grit and positivity. He faces each challenge with a smile, never letting setbacks define him. His journey with cancer has taught us all about resilience, hope, and the power of community.

And on the health front, we are thrilled to share that Jordan’s one-year scans came back clear. He’s now on a four-month check-up schedule and is looking forward to one more year of remission.

Looking back on this whirlwind of a year, filled with ups and downs, challenges and triumphs, I couldn’t be prouder of the young man Jordan has become. His strength and spirit continue to shine brightly, lighting the way for all who know him.

As we move forward, I am filled with hope and anticipation for what lies ahead. Jordan’s journey is far from over, and I can’t wait to see where his dreams take him next.

Here is to many more milestones and moments of joy ahead.

With Love and Light,

The CO Obies
