And here we go!

It’s official! After 8 months of a fight, Jordan’s Oncology team gave him the news he has been waiting for.

Upon a review of all of the post-chemo scans, Jordan is officially cancer free. He will be in remission for 2 years but all signs look promising that he has beat this awful disease for good. He rang that bell one last time, loud and proud on Monday.

The last 8 months have been difficult. We didn’t spend much time as a family. We rarely had the chance to sit down to really talk about our feelings. We did what we had to do to get through the process with so much hope that we would beat cancer. Now, with cancer officially behind us, we are spending time together reflecting. I’m not going to say it’s easy. We are emotional. We have been holding on for so long, releasing it will take time. But I can say, we are so so happy and moving into the next chapter of this journey. Physical strength.

The day after we got the “all clear” from the doctors, Jordan signed up with his high school’s mountain bike team for the fall. Talk about ambition!

And the day after he signed up for the mountain bike team, he was wheeled back for surgery to get his port removed and a skin graft. He was a bit beat up for a day or so following surgery. That was hard, but he recovered well and is now in the healing process.

So now we wait. He should be able to start the fitting process of getting a prosthetic in 4 weeks. Meanwhile, freshman year comes to an end on Thursday. He was diagnosed two weeks after it started and was named a cancer survivor two weeks before it ended. Crazy.

This summer will be the summer of strength. We can’t wait to show you of his progress!

With love and strength,

The CO Obies

These months have been a lifetime for your family but it is now time to really live. Congratulations on the great news.

Jordan, you are a hero and inspiration to all of those who are going through medical difficulties. I am sure you will succeed in the next challenge: getting your prosthetic to work for you.

Strength and love,

Jodi
