Clear Scans and Big Steps Forward

Hey everyone, just dropping in to share the latest on Jordan. This week was huge for us—Jordan had his 9-month cancer check-up and the results were all clear. It’s pretty wild to think that we’re are almost celebrating his first full year of being cancer free. He is getting stronger by the day, and as a result, was just cleared to walk without his crutch.

His skiing has improved dramatically since the last update in December. Jordan is still 3-track skiing and waiting for us at the bottom of every run. He is starting to test his ability by finding some jumps and challenging terrain. We recently got him a knee brace for his ‘good’ leg so he can jump off of all of the jumps he wants with added protection. Here is a quick video of him skiing at Winter Park and a picture of him and Dan on the slopes. https://photos.app.goo.gl/9r5J5W4doZKyfTKY8

As ski season starts to roll off, Jordan will start training with the Colorado Rapids Amputee Soccer team in April! He’s stoked about getting back into soccer, especially in such an inspiring and supportive environment. The timing could not have been better as this is a new team and one of the few amputee soccer teams that currently exist in the United States.

And, in February, Jordan was the Wish Kid for his high school (and Sami’s middle school) to support the Make a Wish Foundation. This was such an emotional week for our family. Seeing the whole school rally around him to raise money was incredibly moving, and Jordan embraced every minute of it. Both Jordan and I prepared a speech to kick off the week's events at the school’s assembly after he served coffee at Dutch Bros to support the cause. You can read my speech here

(thank you to Jordan’s Papa for typing it up for me). And here is a link to the article from our local paper. https://coloradocommunitymedia.com/2024/02/06/golden-sophomore-leads-the-charge-for-schools-annual-wish-week/

Reflecting on everything, we are just amazed by Jordan’s spirit and resilience. It’s hard to describe the emotions that have come from this experience in our lives. We are grateful.

Looking forward to sharing more of Jordan’s victories and adventures with you all in the coming months. Thank you for following along in this incredible journey.

With Love and Light,

The CO Obies
