Keep on Pushing Through

Not only is Jordan healing well and navigating around like a Rockstar with one leg, he also learned that the chemotherapy is doing its job. The pathology report showed the tumor is >99% dead! This is huge, telling us that the chances of osteosarcoma coming back are extremely low. So now what…

After just 15 days post-surgery, we are back in the hospital for another round of Doxorubicin and Cisplatin chemotherapy. This is a requirement regardless of the tumor’s status as we need to kill any cancerous particles that could be floating throughout his body, that scans could not detect. The poor kid can’t catch a break.

Over the next few months, we will cycle through more chemotherapy treatments, start gaining strength via physical therapy and eventually get fit for a prosthetic leg. We are taking one day at a time while appreciating some of the positives along the way.

Last weekend, Tyler Carter, 3-time Paralympic Alpine Skier, toured us around the Olympic and Paralympic Training Center and Museum in Colorado Springs. Thank you, Marc, for the introduction and Tyler for the tour and inspiration. We are thankful my parents were able to bare the cold for a visit from Florida and spend some time with us as well.

Heading back into the hospital and being a roommate with his Mom again isn’t something Jordan is too thrilled about, but we had another visit from the CO Avalanche today, so it's not that bad :) And again, Dan missed it. Thank you to the Av's for putting a smile on this boy's face!

We expect to be discharged tomorrow, and expect to have some challenging side-effects from the chemo over the 7-14 days. It gets a bit more complicated post-surgery as his body is trying to heal while the chemo destroys his good blood cells. Our goal is to remain healthy enough to avoid an inpatient visit to the hospital over the next few weeks. Next chemo treatment is scheduled for early January.

We love you all so much and cherish the support you all have provided, near and far. Keep it coming.

Kari, you could not have said it better when you called Jordan a Rockstar. We are so proud of you and sending you love and our prayers from back east. May the chemo side effects lessen as it does the job. Jordan, stay strong.

Great news - it is great to read/see the "confidence" - in your words and in the images.
