The False Summit

Just when we thought we have reached the summit, we have yet another hill to climb. We feel defeated and pulling all of the strength we have left to get there.
The muscle under the recovered pressure wound is infected. This is the anterior tibialis muscle that sits along the tibia. This infection was deep in the tissue and finally surfaced. The doctor is as frustrated as we are but needed to conduct yet another surgery as quick as possible. Luckily, Jordan wasn’t feeling sick (no fever, chills, etc) so we were able to enjoy the weekend camping to celebrate Jordan’s 15th birthday prior to surgery.

He is now in the operating room. The plan is to remove the entire muscle and clear the area of any and all infection. He will be on antibiotics for 3 months following this procedure as a precaution. It is tough to say how, or if, this will impact Jordan’s mobility in the future.
We are hopeful that we have reached the summit after today. Thank you for continuing to cheer us on while giving Jordan the support and encouragement he needs to get through this.
With Love and Light,
